Street Kart — guidebook
Race your orange kart around Bay Circuit: an original seaside course with
three computer rivals and three laps. Acceleration is automatic. Your job
is to steer, brake for corners and keep the kart on the road.
Start a race
Press Start race and wait through the three-second countdown. The chase
camera follows behind your kart. The race begins automatically after the
countdown; there is no accelerator button to hold.
The HUD shows position, lap, speed and elapsed race time. The ranking
strip names the other karts by colour: Teal, Gold and Blue. On the
minimap, the larger orange dot is you and the other dots match the rivals.
Use it to look ahead to bends that are still outside the camera view.
Keyboard and touch controls
- Left/right arrows or A/D steer left and right.
- Down arrow or S brakes. Release it to accelerate again.
- P pauses or resumes an active race or countdown.
- Click the track view to give the game keyboard focus.
-
On touch screens, hold the left or right pad to steer. Hold the centre
Brake pad with a second finger at the same time when needed.
The pads are hold controls: a brief tap gives only a brief steering input.
Release a pad to stop that input. If both steering directions are held
together, they cancel. You cannot reverse or manually change gear in this
edition.
Corners, grass and bumps
The kart naturally drifts toward the outside of a bend as speed rises.
Steer into the curve and brake before a tight corner. After passing its
tightest point, release the brake to accelerate out.
Grass sharply reduces your attainable speed. If you run wide, steer back
onto the road; the on-screen message reminds you why the kart is slow.
Simply holding a direction continually can keep you off the road, so look
at the track rather than treating steering as a lane-change button.
Contact with a rival nudges the karts apart and costs speed. Give yourself
room to pass. There are no weapons, power-ups or upgrade purchases:
position comes from following the circuit effectively.
Three laps and the result
Complete three laps to finish. The timer stops for your result, and the
game shows your position out of four and your total time. The race ends
when your kart finishes; rivals already across the line stay ahead of you
in the result.
Race again starts a new countdown. Restart also begins a new race, but
asks before discarding an active race or countdown. There is one circuit
in this release, with no championship, track selection or saved
leaderboard.
A first-race playbook
On your first lap, concentrate on staying on the asphalt. Learn the
corners and use the minimap to anticipate what comes next. A controlled
slower corner is usually better than running onto grass at full speed.
Brake early enough to settle the kart, then make a smooth steering
adjustment. Holding the brake throughout an entire straight wastes the
speed you gained by exiting cleanly. Leave space around rivals, especially
when they occupy the line you want through a corner.
Once the route is familiar, compare your finish times and experiment with
earlier braking or a different road position. The handling is
intentionally simple arcade handling, not a real kart simulator.
Pause, focus and replay limits
Pause or P freezes race progress and the countdown. Resume explicitly when
ready. Moving to a hidden browser tab pauses the race as well. Changing
keyboard focus clears held inputs, so click the track again before using
the keys.
Restart confirmation pauses an active race. If you choose Keep playing,
use Resume to continue. Opening the guidebook in another tab keeps the
original page open but may pause it when the race tab becomes hidden.
Races are not saved. Reloading starts from the ready screen. There is no
sound, online multiplayer or account in this edition.
Browser and installation
Street Kart needs a browser with WebGL2 and working graphics acceleration.
If 3D cannot start, the page explains that it is unavailable rather than
leaving an empty track. Try a browser/device with WebGL2 support and
hardware acceleration enabled.
Load the complete standalone game online once, including its graphics
library. Install uses your browser's Install app or Add to Home
Screen action where supported; iPhone/iPad Safari uses Share, then Add to
Home Screen. Installation is optional. After the first complete online
load, the game and guidebook work offline. Embedded installation belongs
to the host site.
The guidebook opens separately and can be printed or saved as PDF through
the browser. Desktop and touch-emulated checks do not establish
physical-phone frame rates or installation; those have not been verified
on a device.
Troubleshooting
If steering does nothing, check that the countdown has ended, the race is
resumed and the track has keyboard focus. On touch screens, keep your
finger on the pad instead of tapping it once. If the kart feels slow,
release Brake and return from the grass to the road.
If you see the 3D unavailable message, check browser graphics support. If
offline loading stops after clearing browser data, reopen the game online
to download its files again.
